Recreational fishing

Recreational fishing in Catalonia requires possession of a recreational fishing licence, which authorises its holder to fish in inland and coastal waters.
Fishing in a controlled fishing zone also requires a personal, non-transferable permit, which for salmonidae lasts for one day.
The permit is free for people who can present proof that they are retired, have a permanent total or absolute disability, or are under fourteen years old.

Fishing for salmonidae in the Rialb River
Regardless of the impact of the Rialb Reservoir, the conservation status of the Rialb’s fish community is generally good because of the water quality and the absence of any significant impact. Autochthonous river trout (Salmo trutta fario) are fished in the Rialb River, which is an indication of the water’s high quality.

Fishing for salmonidae in the Segre River
The middle stretch of the Segre River offers fishing for salmonidae and, more specifically, for river trout. Artesa de Segre, Ponts and Gualter (in Baronia de Rialb) are the largest towns in this zone.
